Selling our house with McKay could not have been easier! Three years after we found McKay and she helped us buy our house, it was time for us to move on for opportunities out of Atlanta. McKay was invaluable in helping us find our house, and she helped us our with contractors and ideas along the way. She definitely earned the right to list our house when it was time to sell. So a few months before we listed, we asked McKay what we needed to do to make the house ready to sell. She gave great advice on the clutter to clear and the rooms to spruce, and we closely followed her advice.
When it was time to sell, McKay met with us for a few hours to discuss price and marketing strategy. She brought comparisons and recommended a price. She also recommended an open house for a few days after listing to generate excitement. We were eager to start on our new opportunities, so we discussed pricing that would sell our house quickly.
It worked. Within 48 hours, McKay set us up with buyer, and within 72 hours of listing, we were under contract.
But that was the easy part. In the course of buying a house, people sometimes get cold feet and make unreasonable demands. McKay was most valuable in deflecting unreasonable demands and focusing the buyer on the many benefits of the house, while convincing us that the effort required for some of the demands was well worth it. In the end, we sold our house and could pursue our new opportunity without anything hanging over our heads--thanks in large part to McKay's work.
Even though we live 500 miles away, we still call McKay from time to time for advice about our "new" old house. We are happy to call McKay our realtor, but even happier to call her our friend.

Buying a house with McKay was a wonderful experience. My fiance and I were looking in the market for six months on our own, and were feeling dejected about the houses we were seeing, until we met McKay at an open house. She invited us back to contact her to get some information about houses in the Grant Park area. When we got together to discuss looking at houses, McKay did the MOST important thing an agent can do: she listened to what WE were looking for in OUR first house. She then created a list of houses that fit the criteria WE wanted.
McKay's knowledge of the area was immensely helpful in narrowing our search. There were numerous houses that fit our criteria, but only a few quality houses. We learned quickly to trust McKay's judgment in those matters. I insisted on seeing a house that she removed from the list, just saying, "You don't want to see that one." She was right, I didn't want to see that one. We didn't even get through the front door before turning around. After that, I was certain I could trust her to know the homes listed and to narrow them to fit our taste.
We quickly found a home we really liked, and McKay was very supportive through the buying experience. For first time homeowners, some banks and some sellers impose additional obstacles. McKay used her contacts to get around some of the obstacles, and was supportive through the entire process. The sale went off without a hitch, and we are certain that would not have occurred without McKay's help in the process.
After the sale, McKay continues to be supportive. She has used her contacts in the area, from landscapers to insurance agents, to make our lives easier. We will continue to ask her opinion as we make our house our home. Not only did we purchase a great house, but we made a great friend.
