Georgia Department of Motor Vehicle Safety

It is recommended that you obtain a Georgia driver's license or Georgia identification card before registering your vehicle in this state. To be able to legally operate a vehicle in this state, you must obtain a Georgia driver's license within thirty-days (30) of establishing residency.

As a Georgia resident, you must register your cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles and motor homes and apply for Georgia titles, when a Georgia title is required, within thirty-days (30) of establishing residency in this state at the Tax Commissioner's office in the county in Georgia where you reside.
